The aim of this Legislative Decree is to regulate the appropriation of land by the Government or Municipalities for public purposes. This Legislative Decree is composed of 12 articles. Article 1 provides for terms and definitions. Articles 2-7 deal with the procedures for the appropriation of land for public purposes by the Government or Municipalities and in particular with: (a) notification of the appropriation to landowners and its publication in the Official Gazette; (b) expropriation of land which should be only for public purposes; (c) the publication of the lands considered Government or Municipality property in the Official Gazette; and (d) compensation and valuation of expropriated lands.
