Social scientist with a research interest in sustainable land governance. Chantal has enjoyed an interdisciplinary education, studying 'development' from a sociological, economic and governance perspective, specialising in sociology and anthropology and obtaining extensive experience with qualitative research methods. She has been involved in several research projects, including a research project on sustainable mobility in Hong Kong and Shanghai for the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, and her own 2,5-months ethnographic field research in Sumatra, Indonesia on nature conservation.
Over time, she has specialised in fair and sustainable land governance, looking for example at processes such as land acquisition and land privatisation for nature conservation. Through my work at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs on land governance and currently at LANDac (The Netherlands Land Academy) she continues to pursue her interest.
