A discussion of the status of forestry in the South Pacific nations, with an overview by country followed by a treatment of the overall resource base, the state of wood industries and the current trends in policy and legislation.

Land Tenure Working Paper 15. This publication brings to light the existing linkages between land tenure and the realization of the right to food. It points out that responsible governance of land requires the adoption of human rights-based approach in order to develop coherent and long term solutions to improve people’s livelihoods. The document presents the legal implications of the right to food at national level and provides a series of examples on the implementation of human rights principles and obligations into land tenure systems, policies, and institutional frameworks.

El marco político para la gestión forestal es un proceso dinámico de renovación e innovación. Nuevas actitudes públicas hacia el bosque y el desarrollo forestal y nuevos actores políticos presionan por un mayor énfasis en la importancia ambiental y social y por más participación en las decisiones de gestión. El desarrollo sostenible es el principio global de la silvicultura. Políticas transversales y redes políticas de nivel múltiple determinan el uso y la protección de los bosques tanto a nivel nacional como local.
