The present Regulations are made under section 6 of the Northwest Territories Lands Act. Section 4 establishes that an application to lease or purchase territorial lands must be made to a land agent and must be accompanied by the application fee set out in the Schedule. The text - consisting of 18 sections deals with the following aspects: sale of territorial lands, leasing of territorial lands, grazing leases, fees.

Decree No. 97 of the Cabinet of Ministers validating the Regulation on request and release of information contained in the State register of immovable property.

This Decree establishes the amount of information to be released by the State register of immovable property, and the modalities of request and release thereof the period of updating of information on immovable property for taxation purposes. Cadastre information shall be considered of general public access except for restrictions related to identification data of the objects of immovable property owned by natural persons.

Using the 2009 round of the Ethiopian Rural Household Survey, this paper examines the medium-term impact of the land registration on investment behavior by households, particularly the adoption of soil conservation techniques and tree planting. It investigates whether men’s and women’s knowledge of their property rights under the land registration (as measured by answers to a list of questions regarding the provisions of the registration, covering such areas as tenure security, land transfer rights, and rights related to gender equity and inheritance) has an impact on these investments.

Almost two decades have passed since China first enacted legislation to protect farmland from conversion to nonagricultural use. Yet hundreds of thousands of hectares of agricultural land are still developed to urban area each year, raising the question of whether the legislation is effective in preserving farmland from development. This paper examines the effectiveness of the Basic Farmland Protection Regulation in protecting high-quality farmland from urban development in China in the first decade after it came into effect (1995‒2005).
