The maintenance of weeding fields in the rice terraces of Kurumeki, Inasa-chou, Shizuoka Prefecture

This paper focuses on the stage of annual maintenance of weeding levee slope of terraced paddy fields called Kurumeki-no-tanada, in Inasa-chou, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka prefecture. In this study, we characterize ridges between rice fields and grassy fields as 'fields for weeding'. First, we survey cultivated paddies and fields for weeding. Secondly we presents some results concerning the relation between the management systems and farmers. Finally, we consider some arrangements for sustainable conservation on these rice terraces. Many farmlands were destroyed by big flood disaster in 2012 that was occurred in Yame and Ukiha city, Fukuoka prefecture at northern Kyushu, Japan. In this paper, I described the case study that has been deployed the volunteer activities for farmland restoration after the flood disaster in the hilly and mountainous areas. The purpose of this study is to clarify the outline of the activities in three regions and to show the types of the volunteer groups of farmland restoration. Interview survey was conducted with each volunteer group's manager and collecting that materials.

In this study, I tried the understanding of the environment state of the farmland in Fukushima and neighbor prefectures in 2011 to contribute to an evaluation of the radioactive substance pollution of the farmland by the accident of Fukushima daiichi nuclear power plant which occurred with East Japan great earthquake disaster of March 11, 2011 with a satellite remote sensing technology. This Regulation aims to protect cultivated land resources and improve the quality thereof. The Regulation consists of 26 articles. The competent agriculture authorities at or above the county level shall be in charge of the protection of arable land, whose main responsibilities are prescribed in article 5. Any unit and individual shall have the obligation to protect the quality of cultivated land. This paper investigated the cause of abandoned farm land in hilly and mountainous area and proposed correspondence to cope with this problem. The progress of depopulation is also violent, and the population will be almost reduced by half from 1960 in fiscal year 1980. The farmland of the ratio of the abandoned cultivated land made a forest is also abundant 20% and in those.
