This Sub-decree is about the downsized land in total of 3393 hectares, including (1) 3310.17 hectares from land concession of TPP Company and (2) 82.83 hectares from economic land concession of Sophorn Theary Peanich Co. Ltd, and the reclassification of the 2756.89 hectares of state public land as state private land for the granting of ownership to the people who have been occupied and the 636.11 hectares of land shall be kept for public benefits and physical infrastructure in Chong Spean village, Khvav commune, Chi Kreng district, Siem Reap province.

En 2005, shiringueros del distrito de Iberia decidieron asociarse en ECOMUSA para extraer el látex sin perjudicar al bosque amazónico. En esta zona de Madre de Dios, Perú, la tala ilegal y el cambio de uso de la tierra amenazaban con desaparecer estas importantes áreas boscosas. El éxito asociativo: el Estado les entrega en concesión, en 2008, el manejo de 7,900 hectáreas de bosques productivos.

This Regulation, consisting of 19 articles divided into four Chapters, regulates the Cooperation of Use of Forest Zones for Supporting Food Security. Purpose and objectives of this Regulation are: promoting cooperation in the use of forest areas to support food security as a reference for cooperating in the implementation of food crops and livestock development efforts to ensure the achievement of national food production, by applying the principles of good forestry governance.

A new report offers evidence that the modest investments needed to secure land rights for indigenous communities will generate billions in returns—economically, socially and environmentally—for local communities and the world’s changing climate. The report, Climate Benefits, Tenure Costs: The Economic Case for Securing Indigenous Land Rights, quantifies for the first time the economic value of securing land rights for the communities who live in and protect forests, with a focus on Colombia, Brazil, and Bolivia.

Les terres arides couvrent près de la moitié de la surface terrestre et abritent un tiers de la population mondiale. Elles sont confrontées à des défis hors du commun, notamment ceux posés par la désertification, la perte de biodiversité, la pauvreté, l’insécurité alimentaire et les changements climatiques. Quelque 20 pour cent des terres arides de la planète sont dégradées, et les personnes qui vivent sur ces terres sont souvent piégées dans un cercle vicieux de pauvreté, pratiques destructrices et détérioration de l’environnement.

The Conference of the Parties (COP) of UNFCCC is a prime opportunity to communicate FAO’s work on climate change and to liaise with potential partners, at the numerous side events and parallel events organized around the COP. These guidelines are the result a consultative process that involved a large number of practitioners from both developed and developing countries. Two meetings were held in Glasgow and Delhi and a tentative outline was agreed upon. The guidelines are intended to provide a reference framework for decision makers and planners to adequately plan, design and manage the forest and trees in and around their cities.
