Protocol for participatory on-farm experiment for rice field fisheries/rice field pond

Diciembre, 2022
Malaysia

Cambodia’s rain-fed and flooded rice fields are important and productive sources of inland fish and other aquatic animals, including frogs and snails. These aquatic resources are important to millions
of Cambodians, particularly those in rural areas. They make important contributions to rural
livelihoods, to food security, climate change, nutrition and income generation. Through their roles
in protecting wild fish during dry periods and providing good habitats for fish to breed, spawn and

Validating high frequency deployment of the Diet Quality Questionnaire

Diciembre, 2022
Global

In recent work, Manners et al. (2022) crowdsourced the Diet Quality Questionnaire (DDQ), assessing whether a lean and low-cost data collection system could be deployed for mapping of diet quality. In 52 weeks of data collection, the system generated responses from more than 80,000 unique respondents, collecting around 1800 respondents per week. The preliminary success of the piloted system points towards a viable alternative modality for deployment for the DQQ. Crowdsourcing data is an attractive option for the DQQ, generating data at a relatively low-cost.

Unveiling water resources of the Vietnamese Mekong Delta

Diciembre, 2022
Nigeria

The Vietnamese Mekong Delta is responsible for half of the country’s rice production. This is possible due to abundant freshwater resources available for agriculture. This report provides a general overview of water resources in the region, presents unique water-related challenges using earth observation data, and description of measures to address them. Structurally, section one provides a general introduction followed by description of surface water resources, its uses and dynamics. Section three contains information on water infrastructure in the region.

Calibrated multi-model ensemble seasonal prediction of Bangladesh summer monsoon rainfall

Diciembre, 2022
Bangladesh

Bangladesh summer monsoon rainfall (BSMR), typically from June through September (JJAS), represents the main source of water for multiple sectors. However, its high spatial and interannual variability makes the seasonal prediction of BSMR crucial for building resilience to natural disasters and for food security in a climate-risk-prone country. This study describes the development and implementation of an objective system for the seasonal forecasting of BSMR, recently adopted by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Context Document [Tunisia]: Context Assessment for Agroecology Transformation in the Tunisian Living Landscape

Diciembre, 2022
Global

The purpose of this Context Assessment is threefold: first, to characterize the environmental, social, economic, and political contexts of the Tunisian Agroecological Living Landscape (ALL); second, to understand the data and information currently available in the sub-region of this ALL; and third, to characterize the extent to which agroecological principles are already being employed locally at the ALL level. This report constitutes a basis of information and discussion to conduct an impact assessment.

Guidance note for peace-informed programming at the Green Climate Fund: Infrastructure and built environment.

Diciembre, 2022
Global

Infrastructure projects in fragile and conflict affected settings are susceptible to numerous operational challenges, which might inadvertently escalate existing socio-economic and political tensions. Infrastructure, being intricately connected to the daily lives and societal needs of communities, often becomes a flashpoint in conflicts. Essential systems like water, energy, and transportation are not just physical assets; they represent broader social, economic, and political structures that can be either symbols of progress or points of contention.

Diciembre, 2022
Bahrain

Links between land tenure and food and nutritional insecurity are receiving increased attention. Nevertheless,
urban and periurban dwellers face challenges in accessing land to produce food for subsistence and sale. An
ethnographic study and food and nutrition insecurity survey were conducted between October 2013 and
November 2014 in Tamale, Northern Region of Ghana, to explore the dynamic and recursive links between land

Situational analysis of the Doma-Rutu socio-ecological landscape in Nasarawa State, Nigeria

Diciembre, 2022
Nigeria

The CGIAR Initiative on West and Central African Food Systems Transformation (TAFS-WCA) addresses challenges in the food systems of West and Central Africa, characterized by weak institutional arrangements, low productivity, and resource depletion. TAFS-WCA focuses on landscape management in selected countries, aiming for community engagement and the implementation of innovative solutions. The Doma-Rutu socio-ecological landscape in Nasarawa State, Nigeria, was chosen for intervention, with a comprehensive analysis revealing abundant water resources and agriculturally viable areas.
