On September 18, 2023, the One CGIAR initiative on Livestock and Climate, in collaboration with the Direction General des Forets (DGF) and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), hosted a webinar addressing the challenges and opportunities in leveraging native species for the restoration of degraded silvopastoral systems in Tunisia. The webinar convened 34 participants from diverse national research and development institutions, fostering a rich exchange of perspectives.

Being insufficiently aware of the conflict dynamics may inadvertently contribute to conflict and undermine the achievement of the project’s goals, as well as undermining its potential to contribute to peace and stability.

Supporting AICCRA in the Organization and Facilitation of a Hackathon in West Africa

This report provides a deep dive on the Sen AgriHack 2023, the innovation challenge organized by AICCRA to address post-harvest losses in Senegal. Through Sen AgriHack 2023, AICCRA created a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary collaboration among participants and stakeholders to generate relevant solutions to challenges faced by farmers and value chain actors. The event also included a capacity building component on climate change and its impacts, gender responsive-csa, post harvest management provided by CGIAR experts.

The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) conducted a one-day workshop on “Leveraging the Role of Computer Vision in Agriculture Applications” as part of the CGIAR Initiative on Digital Innovation Initiative (DI). The workshop was organized at Delhi Technological University (DTU) on 20th November 2023. It was a joint effort by CGIAR's IRRI with DTU, New Delhi, and was meant for research scholars, and engineering students working in the field of Digital Agriculture. Sessions on the latest technologies used in Digital Agriculture were conducted during the workshops.

Effectiveness of Innovation Platforms in Enhancing the Viability of the Wheat Seed Sector in Terbol Station, Lebanon

The objective of this research was to assess the effectiveness of the innovation platform (IP) (Terbol Station) on the wheat seed sector in Lebanon. Data were collected from 16 seed producers after identifying and mapping the key stakeholders in the seed sector. Descriptive statistics was used to categorize and evaluate the efficacy of the innovation platform by identifying six groups: seed availability and access, knowledge and training, seed production and market impact, incentives, joint planning, and the situation of the seed sector in Lebanon.
