La presente Estrategia MERCOSUR de Lucha contra la Desertificación, la Degradación de la Tierra y los Efectos de la Sequía se inscribe en el marco de la Convención de las Naciones Unidas de Lucha contra la Desertificación y la Sequía y, en particular, en su Anexo III de Aplicación Regional para América Latina y el Caribe. El documento fue elaborado por el Grupo Ad hoc de Lucha contra la Desertificación y la Sequía que fuera creado en 2005 durante la IV Reunión de Ministros de Medio de Ambiente del MERCOSUR.

The National Environmental Action Plan of Estonia is a national cross-sectoral action plan of Estonia for the period 2007-2013. Its main objective is to present a consensual list of nationally prioritised activities aimed at achieving the primary goals of the environmental policy specified in the national Environmental Strategy, indicating the financing needs and discussing the most optimal use of non-budgetary funding sources.The Action Plan aims to ensure food and potable water safety.

The Estonian Environmental Strategy 2030 is a national cross-sectoral strategy of Estonia for the period 2007-2030. Its main objective is to ensure the preservation and improvement of the Estonian living and natural environment in the areas of reduction of waste, disused hazardous sites and the pollution load; sustainable use of water and mineral resources; energy; transport; forestry; fisheries; hunting; and preservation of the diversity of nature and landscapes.The Strategy aims to ensure food and potable water safety.

The World Social Forum in Nairobi in January 2007 was a timely New Year rallying event for Kenyans to revisit the fundamental principles for building a democratic and sustainable society as we prepare for December 2007 elections.The current organizing principles of the institutions that govern us in Kenya are narrow and serve the few at the expense of the many millions of Kenyans that live in abject poverty. Yet, from all corners of the country it is acknowledged that it is within our collective ability to create a healthy and sustainable society that serves and work for all

Through this Land Update, KLA appreciates that for the first time in the history of Kenya a comprehensive Draft National Land Policy has been formulated.We therefore urge all Kenyans and the general public to read, debate and contribute to the finalization of the National Land Policy. This is because the final National Land Policy will provide the basis for the review and harmonization of the existing laws and enacting of new ones to facilitate the achievement of the objectives set out in the overall national development policy framework, Kenya Vision 2030

The present Poverty Reduction Strategy and Action Plan (PRSAP) 2007 provides the framework for poverty focused planning and budgeting in the short to medium term. Poverty reduction will be central to all sectoral development plans and the medium term expenditure framework. Part 3 defines the Overarching Policy Objective as follows: The overriding goal of the PRSAP is to reduce poverty by more than 50% by 2015 and then ultimately eradicate it by 2022.

This participatory poverty assessment (PPA 2006) comprises one component of ADB’s Technical Assistance to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic for Institutional Strengthening for Poverty Monitoring and Evaluation. The goal of this PPA, as with the first PPA in 2000, is to complement the statistical analyses of poverty in a meaningful way and to record the experiences and concerns of the poor in order to initiate and identify more effective forms of public and private actions to alleviate poverty.

This paper conducts an empirical investigation of the rural credit market in Myanmar to help guide policy formulation on the microfinance operations in the country. Specifically, it looks into the determinants of credit demand and of rationing loans at the household level, and identifies the similarities, differences and relationships among the various segments of the rural creditmarket.Data are primarily gathered through a survey covering a total of 301 households among 7 villages in the Dry Zone.

A Regularização Fundiária das Terras da União parte do princípio constitucional que garante a função social da propriedade, seja ela privada ou pública. Porém, esse preceito constitucional não está de todo consolidado. São inúmeros os que ainda vêem a propriedade com a fi nalidade única de obtenção de renda, sem dar-se conta de que isso pode restringir o direito fundamental   moradia de outrem ou, ainda, o direito de todos aos benefícios da cidade, do trabalho e do meio ambiente saudável.

Esta publicação apresenta os resultados da pesquisa Observatório do Uso do Solo e da Gestão Fundiária do Centro de São Paulo, realizada pelo Laboratório de Habitação e Assentamentos Humanos LABHAB da Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade de São Paulo, com o apoio do Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, entre os meses de setembro de 2005 e junho de 2006. O escopo desta pesquisa foi o levantamento e avaliação dos instrumentos urbanísticos e tributários instituídos ou implementados nos últimos 15 anos na área central de São Paulo.
