This study presents a country-wide quantitative analysis of the Parliamentary Land Investigation Commission reports that were released to the public. The aim is not just to analyze the information contained in the reports, but also to elicit information they do not reveal. The succinct analysis allows for the formulation of relevant suggestions to be considered by the current government and non-government bodies involved in different processes of [confiscated] land redistribution, in particular the newly established Central Reinvestigation Committee for Confiscated Farmlands and Other Lands, which was established on 9 June 2016.

Project Description

Land governance is at the center of development challenges in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. Governments are revising land policies and practices in order to face these challenges. The project aims to (i) assist the emergence of more favorable policies and practices for securing the rights and access of family farmers to land and natural resources; and (ii) to strengthen the effectiveness of concerned stakeholders through learning, alliance building and regional cooperation.
