La geografía de Panamá ha dotado al país con la capacidad de conectar el mundo tanto por tierra como por mar. Por tierra, los 75.517 km2 de Panamá conectan Sudamérica con Centroamérica a través de sus fronteras al Este con Colombia y al Oeste con Costa Rica. Por mar, el país conecta el mar Caribe al norte y el océano Pacífico al sur gracias a los 82 kilómetros de una de las obras de ingeniería más importantes del mundo, el Canal de Panamá, acelerando y facilitando así la comunicación marítima y el comercio.

UNDP envisages an array of measures designed to manage protected mangroves and other wetlands over an area of 13,800 ha. The measures are to be monitored and assessed with regard to their carbon dynamics. The project shall give greater priority to wetlands within Panama's national protected area system and will improve the capacity of the national environmental authority to manage protected areas.
