Espen Sjaastad is a professor at the Department of International Environment and Development Studies (Noragric), Faculty of Landscape and Society, Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
Within the field of land and property rights, Sjaastad has been involved in research on property and investment incentives, land transactions, impacts of property surveys and mapping, property formalization, formation of communal property associations, land rentals, land reform and pastoralism, and land restitution.
Beyond property rights, Sjaastad’s research interests include poverty, rural livelihoods, and social impacts of conservation.
