Upon the request of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, the Council of Ministers decrees to determine some meadows as protected areas which are specified in the Annex. This Decree aims at soil conservation against erosion, pollution, degradation and fertility soil loss.

This Regulation sets forth technical and administrative procedures and principles to prevent soil contamination, locate the contaminated areas and sectors, and to monitor and clean the contaminated soil and sites in line with the sustainable development goals.

This Land Degradation Neutrality National Report is a national policy with a sectoral approach. The timeframe of the Plan is 15 years between 2016 and 2030. This Decree provides for certain dealings in land related to a loan facility and relative mortgages and title in native land for the development of a coastal area. The Decree seeks to protect funds advanced by the Fiji National Provident Fund by providing for accelerated transfer of title and relative registration by the Land Registrar. Land involved in these dealings includes native land covered by a Land Swap Agreement for which the Native land Trust Board holds specified powers.

This Notification sets forth procedures and principles of the institutions authorized for assessment and rehabilitation of contaminated sites, in accordance with the Regulation regarding point source land pollution and soil contamination control. Furthermore, this Notification sets forth provisions on the Committee authorized to issue the qualification certificate.

This Government Regulation implements the provisions of Law No. 41 of 1999 on Forestry. It establishes that to accelerate the development excluding the activity of forestry, it simplifies the procedure of changing the designation and function of forest areas and solves the problems that cannot be resolved under the provisions of Government Regulation No. 10 of 2010 on Procedure to Change the Designation and Function of Forest Areas.
