This Government Regulation implements the provisions of Law No. 41 of 1999 on Forestry. It establishes that to accelerate the development excluding the activity of forestry, it simplifies the procedure of changing the designation and function of forest areas and solves the problems that cannot be resolved under the provisions of Government Regulation No. 10 of 2010 on Procedure to Change the Designation and Function of Forest Areas. The change of designation of forest areas and function of forest areas are aimed to meet a dynamic requirement on national development based on the aspiration of people but it is still for the optimizing of function of distribution and utilization of forest areas on a basis of preservation and sustainability whereas the existence of forest areas shall remain in a sufficient size and proportional stretch. Forest areas, as cited in Article 3 shall include Forest areas that have principal functions such as: Conservation Forest, Protected Forest, and Production Forest. The change of designation of the area of forest that has a significant impact and extensive scope with strategic values shall be the change of designation of area of forest that can generate impacts to: a) bio-physic conditions; or b) social and economic conditions of people.

Implements: Forestry Act No. 41 of 1999. (1999-09-30)
