This document contains the proceedings of the Subregional Workshop on Land Water Information Systems (LWRIS) in the Caribbean, held in Barbados in October 2000. The meeting was organized by FAO Land and Water Development Division (AGL), in collaboration with the Caribbean Agricultural and Research Development Institute.

La présente publication «Situation des ressources génétiques forestières du Mali» est issue d’un rapport national présenté à l’Atelier sous-régional FAO/IPGRI/CIRAF sur la conservation, la gestion, l’utilisation durable et la mise en valeur des ressources génétiques forestières de la zone sahélienne (Ouagadougou, 22-24 sept. 1998).

Issues relating to land and land reform have been moving up the agenda of rural poverty and food security in recent years with the increasing acceptance that the prerequisites for broad-based and equitable development include the essential need for people to have access to land and other natural resources. Access needs to be on an equitable basis allowing the poor and the disadvantaged, including women, to secure the assets needed for them and their families to generate sustainable livelihoods.

An overview of the political, economic and social context for forestry in Côte d'Ivoire today. The report goes on to discuss future prospects for the sector.

Cette première édition d’un document synthétique regroupant un état des ressources génétiques forestières de la zone sahélienne et Nord-soudanienne et un plan sous-régional d’action pour la gestion durable de ces ressources est le fruit d’un processus engagé à l’initiative des pays de la sous-région en vue d’une meilleure prise en considération des problèmes importants mais complexes liés aux ressources génétiques forestières.

Based on the FAO-ESCAP project to develop 'national water visions' in the Asia-Pacific region that would set out each country's goals for sound water management to meet the needs of all for this vital natural resource over the next two decades. Contains four Southeast Asia case studies (Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam), which were carried out as part of the project and looks at water use in these countries and how they plan to fulfil their water visions.
