La cuestin de la mujer y la silvicultura es, pues, un elemento central en el campo general de las relaciones entre la mujer, la alimentacin y la agricultura que este ao se pusieron de relieve en todos los pases el 16 de octubre, con ocasin del Da Mundial de la Alimentacin. Al dedicar este nmero de Unasylva a La mujer y la agricultura - tema del Da Mundial de la Alimentacin - en los aspectos relacionados con la silvicultura, la FAO no desea limitarse a destacar los problemas y necesidades de las campesinas.

La question des femmes et de la sylviculture est par consquent intimement lie celle plus gnrale des relations entre les femmes, l'alimentation et l'agriculture, qui seront mises en lumire cette anne dans tous les pays lors de la Journe mondiale de l'alimentation, le 16 octobre. En consacrant le prsent numro d'Unasylva au thme de cette journe mondiale: Les femmes dans l'agriculture, tel qu'il se transpose la fort, la FAO souhaite faire plus qu'veiller l'attention sur les proccupations et les besoins des femmes rurales.

This report presents the results of an exercise to model forest industry development in Liberia. It presents background information about Liberia and the forestry sector, then discusses the trends and projections in forest cover and production and trade of forest products. It suggests that forest resources will not be able to meet future demand for wood and recommends that forest plantations should be planted to meet this demand.

Deals with water resource & its exploitation in tropical Africa from an engineering point of view, giving an insight into the wide range of problems in water development & providing general guidelines for future planning. Considers such issues as the mechanics of the hydrological cycle, the origins of wide variations in rainfall, the potential for water resources development in pastoral areas & low cost methods of exploiting these resources, & problems of water quality.

This Bulletin contains the papers and proceedings of the FAO/SIDA Workshop on Organic Materials and Soil Productivity in the Near East. In view of the important complementary effect of organic materials to mineral fertilizers and their role in improving the soil?s physical properties, the Workshop has dealt with a wide variety of items on techniques and uses of the organic materials and wastes including, composting, bio-fertilizers and biogas, the environmental and health aspects, and action guidelines for follow-up activities in the Near East countries.

It is thus ideally suited for propagation in rice fields. The development and use of blue-green algae require special techniques. The manual summarizes the present status of algal biofertilizer technology for rice with practical information for its adoption by agricultural extension personnel and subject matter specialists.
