The Lieutenant Governor in Council may make Regulations for the purpose of prohibiting, annulling or in any manner restricting the taking or acquisition directly or indirectly of, or the succession to, any interest in controlled land (as defined), provided that they do not operate so as to prohibit, annul or in any manner restrict the ownership by a person of interests in controlled land consisting of not more than 2 parcels containing, in the aggregate, not more than 20 acres.

The aim of this Legislative Decree is to regulate the appropriation of land by foreigners. The present Decree is composed of 5 articles. Article 1 allows foreigners to appropriate lands in the Kingdom of Bahrain according to requirements and conditions which should be issued by the Council of Ministries. Article 2 defines the conditions and requirements for the appropriation of lands by foreign juridical persons. Articles 3-5 contain general provisions.

This Law establishes that agricultural land shall be exclusive property of the state and of citizens permanently living in rural areas for at least two years. Allotment in ownership and transfer of agricultural land shall be prohibited to: (a) foreign natural and legal persons, and foreign states; (b) stateless persons living on the territory of Kyrgyzstan; (c) legal persons of Kyrgyzstan and joint-ventures; and (d) married couples if one conjoint is foreigner or stateless person.

Estates of Deceased Foreigners Act (Cap. 198).

This Act makes provision for the administration of estates in Belize of deceased foreign persons. It assigns powers to representatives of specified countries of origin of the deceased person to administer the estate if there is no person present in Belize at the time of death who is rightfully entitled to administer the estate of such deceased person. Nothing contained in this Act shall affect the Crown’s right under the Administration of Estates Act. The representative shall apply for letters of administration to be issued by court.

With the exception of game reserves and other nature protected areas with national and international significance, ownership is returned to owners whose land was taken under the April 1946 Law of landownership.

This Act makes provision with respect to the creation of mortgages and consequences of such mortgages. The purpose of the Act is to establish a system of mortgage law in Yap State which will induce lenders to make secured commercial and residential loans, while at the same time ensuring that borrowers who execute mortgages of property in Yap State understand nature and consequences of the mortgage, and that the parties to the mortgage are protected against unfair practices.
