Considerations on the public availability and application of time-series land use data of the Tohoku tsunami damage regions

The Japanese public now has access to vast amounts of geographical information produced by many government agencies and media outlets on the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Many maps and images not only inform the public about the tsunami damage area, but potentially help the public and policy makers understand the landscape damaged by the tsunami, and plan reconstruction. However, large amounts of publically available data still remain underutilized.

This paper focuses on the stage of annual maintenance of weeding levee slope of terraced paddy fields called Kurumeki-no-tanada, in Inasa-chou, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka prefecture. In this study, we characterize ridges between rice fields and grassy fields as 'fields for weeding'. First, we survey cultivated paddies and fields for weeding. Many farmlands were destroyed by big flood disaster in 2012 that was occurred in Yame and Ukiha city, Fukuoka prefecture at northern Kyushu, Japan. In this paper, I described the case study that has been deployed the volunteer activities for farmland restoration after the flood disaster in the hilly and mountainous areas. The purpose of this study is to clarify the outline of the activities in three regions and to show the types of the volunteer groups of farmland restoration. Interview survey was conducted with each volunteer group's manager and collecting that materials.

The purpose of this study is to show the administrative institutions and acts for the unused farmlands in hilly and mountainous areas. The Nagano City Agricultural Commitee surveyed the farmland used in 2013, and produced a survey in collaboration with the members of their committee as well as other farmers. In this survey, it was shown that almost all the unused farmlands were kept as forests and thus, couldn't be cultivated. Before the 1970s, silk was produced in Nagano City, and so almost all the unused farmlands were used for mulberry production which supported the silk industry.

The Committee was briefed by the Ingonyama Trust Board (ITB) on its third quarter 2014/15 performance and financial report. Apologies were received from the Minister and Deputy Minister. At the outset, Members expressed their dismay that the ITB was reporting from a document that contained different figures to the one sent through to Members earlier, and it was difficult to follow the presentation. Secondly, several commented that the reporting format was problematic, as it did not conform to standard practices nor terminology as used in the Public Finance Management Act.

The Uganda National Land Policy (NLP) Implementation Action Plan is a deliberate resolution by the Government of Uganda to address major challenges that have hindered the implementation of land reforms, thereby impeding the optimal utilisation of land for socio-economic development and transformation. Although successive post-independence governments have made numerous efforts to streamline land governance and reconfigure the role of land in national development, the majority of these efforts have failed to address underlying issues and have thus remained unimplemented to date.
