The Strategy

The Jersey Legal Information Board (JLIB) has created a strategy setting the direction of Jersey's Legal Information Systems for the next five years. In order to achieve its vision, the approach of the Board is a progressive and forward-looking one, exploiting emerging technologies. However, the Board will be sensitive to the way in which Jersey's legal processes have developed in the light of the Island's unique historical and social status.

This Order concerns public inquiries a public inquiry be held in respect of an application for planning permission in accordance with article 12 of the Planning and Building (Jersey) Law 2002. It sets out the procedure of such inquiries and provides for appointment of an inspector and supporting officers for purposes of an inquiry. The inspector shall conduct the public inquiry as he or she thinks fit, subject to the requirements of this Order and of the terms of reference.

This Order prescribes information required in a statement for the purposes of article 4(1)(a) of the Taxation (Land Transactions) (Jersey) Law 2009 and concerns a land transaction tax (LTT) receipt as defined by article 9 of the Law.

This Order amends the High Hedges (Application Fee) (Jersey) Order, the Planning and Building (Fees) (Jersey) Order 2008, the Waste Management (Fees) (Jersey) Order 2008 and the Plant Health (Field Inspections – Fees) (Jersey) Order 2014. The Planning and Building (Fees) (Jersey) Order 2008 are amended by substituting for the table in Schedule 1 a new table. The table sets out fees for proposed development including agricultural and horticultural buildings and appeals against refusal to grant a planning permission.

This Law provides rules for the making of wills and other matters regarding inheritance. It provides, among other things, that in every collateral succession on intestacy, whether to movable or immovable estate, the rule by which the paternal side excludes the maternal side in equality of degree is abolished. It also provides for devolution of immovable estate on intestacy and amends customary law so as to provide for equality of succession rights of legitimate and illegitimate children.
