This fact sheet presents the results of a study carried out between Dezember 2016 and March 2017 by the Instituto del Bien Común (IBC) on the possible obstacles of land titling of native communities in the region of Ucayali. The study is developed in coordination with the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Ucayali (DRAU) and indigenous regional organizations, with support from the German development cooperation, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, through the ProTierras Comunales project. The main objective of the study was to better understand possible obstacles of titling processes, especially in the regard of native communities titling, and future land management of native communities. In this regard, a questionnaire was carried out focusing on the history of the community, the overlays of titles territories and local conflicts. As a result, it was possible to calculate the frequency of the different types of overlaps and conflicts in 94 native communities (15 titled, 53 per holder and 26 to recognize and holder), and for a total of 146 native communities the data was updated in the Native Communities Information System of the Peruvian Amazon (SICNA) of the IBC. The four maps and the data presented in this fact sheet show the result of this process.
