National Academic Research and Collaborations Information System (NARCIS) is the main Dutch national portal for those looking for information about researchers and their work. NARCIS aggregates data from around 30 institutional repositories. Besides researchers, NARCIS is also used by students, journalists and people working in educational and government institutions as well as the business sector.
NARCIS provides access to scientific information, including (open access) publications from the repositories of all the Dutch universities, KNAW, NWO and a number of research institutes, datasets from some data archives as well as descriptions of research projects, researchers and research institutes.
This means that NARCIS cannot be used as an entry point to access complete overviews of publications of researchers (yet). However, there are more institutions that make all their scientific publications accessible via NARCIS. By doing so, it will become possible to create much more complete publication lists of researchers.
In 2004, the development of NARCIS started as a cooperation project of KNAW Research Information, NWO, VSNU and METIS, as part of the development of services within the DARE programme of SURFfoundation. This project resulted in the NARCIS portal, in which the DAREnet service was incorporated in January 2007. NARCIS has been part of DANS since 2011.
DANS - Data Archiving and Networked Services - is the Netherlands Institute for permanent access to digital research resources. DANS encourages researchers to make their digital research data and related outputs Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable.

Deze kwalitatieve evaluatie gaat over de resultaten van vijf jaar Investeringsbudget Landelijk Gebied (ILG). Het onderzoek toont dat het ILG heeft bijgedragen aan een versterking van de provinciale regie in het landelijk gebied. Het Rijk trok zich terug, maar hield via gedetailleerde bestuursovereenkomsten met provincies en jaarlijkse voortgangsbewaking wel bemoeienis. De resultaatgerichtheid in het beleid voor het landelijk gebied is toegenomen door de afspraken over te leveren prestaties in de ILG-bestuursovereenkomsten en de vaste termijn van zeven jaar.
Engineering Consequences of changing Traffic Flows on Minor Rural Roads in a developing Multifunctional European Countryside
Multifunctional agriculture (MFA) is a leading catchword in European agricultural policy. This paper aims to investigate expanding traffic flows arising from new activities connected with agricultural business, such as on-farm sales of products, care-farming, and agritourism. These activities put an extra burden on the road network additional to flows generated by traditional agricultural activities. Additional volumes can be estimated from general data and depend on the scale of facilities, for example 1.8 vehicle trips per weekday for 1 room in a B&B.
Sustainable agricultural intensification in Sub-Saharan Africa : design of an assessment tool
The demand for agricultural products (food, feed, fibre, and biomass for other purposes) produced in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) will increase for the coming decades. In addition, the global climate change will largely impact on the agricultural sector in Sub-Saharan Africa. Major challenges for the agricultural sector in SSA are that agricultural production systems depend on resources that are for a large part non-renewable, and that the current agricultural practices in SSA are major contributors to environmental degradation.
Drijfveren, sociaal kapitaal en strategie van collectieve burgeracties tegen grote landschappelijke ingrepen
In dit onderzoek worden de drijfveren, het sociaal kapitaal en de strategie van vier actiegroepen beschreven die in verweer zijn gekomen tegen grootschalige ingrepen in het landschap: Red ons bos, Werkgroep Zwartendijk, Bewonersvereniging Horstermeerpolder en Actiecomité Horstermeerpolder. Uit interviews met de actievoerders blijkt dat hun identificatie met het landschap en hun ideologie over natuur belangrijke drijfveren zijn. Uit deze drijfveren volgt een boosheid die de uiteindelijke ‘trigger’ is om in verzet te komen.
