A Nicarágua é um país localizado no istmo centro-americano, limitado por Honduras ao norte e Costa Rica ao sul, ao leste pelo Oceano Atlântico e ao oeste pelo Oceano Pacífico. Em 2019, o país tinha uma população total de 6.486.201 habitantes e um PIB (Produto Interno Bruto) per capita de US$5.683. É um dos países mais pobres das Américas. O setor agrícola tem sido tradicionalmente o principal sustento da economia do país.
