Ian Scoones is a Professorial Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies, and the Director of the ESRC STEPS Centre at Sussex. He is an agricultural ecologist by original training, and works on the interface between science and environmental, health and agricultural policy, mostly in Africa. Much of his work has focused on land, livelihoods and agrarian change in Zimbabwe (www.zimbabweland.wordpress.com).
