The Agricultural Water Solutions Project aims to unlock the potential of smallholder farming by identifying, evaluating and recommending a variety of agricultural water management (AWM) solutions - including technologies as well as the necessary supporting policies, institutions, financing arrangements and associated business models. This is being achieved through a series of interlinked activities in the seven project sites in Africa (Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia) and in India (Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal).

This user instruction guide provides detailed description of the Emissions Overview On-line Tool, which is part of the AFOLU Emissions Analysis Tools aimed at supporting Member Countries in improving their national capacity to address UNFCCC reporting requirements and to design climate policy actions (i.e. GHG Inventories, Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions – NAMAs – and Nationally Determined Contributions – NDCs) for the agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) sector.

تشكِّل التربة السليمة أكبر مستودع للكربون الأرضي. ويمكن للتربة عندما تدار بطريقة مستدامة أن تقوم بدور هام في التخفيف من آثار تغيُّر المناخ عن طريق تخزين الكربون )احتجاز الكربون( وتخفيض انبعاثات غازات الدفيئة في الغلاف الجوي. وفي المقابل، عندما تساء إدارة التربة أو تزرع باتباع ممارسات زراعية غير مستدامة، يمكن لكربون التربة أن ينطلق في الغلاف الجوي في شكل ثاني أكسيد كربون وهو ما يمكن أن يساهم في تغيُّر المناخ. وأدّى استمرار تحويل الأراضي العشبية وأراضي الغابات إلى أراضٍ لزراعة المحاصيل وللرعي خلال السنوات العشرين الأخيرة إلى إحداث خسائر تاريخية في كربون التربة على نطاق العالم.
