The Water Challenge Badge - Resource and Activity Guide is designed to support you in educating children and youth about water, the challenges our water resources are facing and the importance of using water fairly and sustainably. The guide contains simple teaching tools to make learning appealing and fun, and provides a selection of activities and exercises to encourage young people to engage in efforts to save water and to promote equitable access to clean water. The guide can be used to achieve the Water Challenge Badge or can be used separately.

This case study is one of a series of publications produced by the Forest Harvesting, Trade and Marketing Branch of FAO in an effort to promote environmentally sound forest harvesting and engineering practices. The purpose of these studies is to highlight both the promise of environmentally sound forest harvesting technologies as a component of sustainable forest management, and the constraints that must be overcome in order to assure widespread adoption of those technologies.

"إن نهج النظام الإيكولوجي في تربية الأحياء المائية هو إستراتيجية لإدماج النشاط داخل النظام الإيكولوجي الأوسع بحيث يشجع التنمية المستدامة والعدالة، وانتعاش النظم الاجتماعية-الإيكولوجية المترابطة" كونه إستراتيجية، نهج النظام الإيكولوجي في تربية الأحياء المائية ليس هو ما يتم إنما هو كيف يتم ذلك. مشاركة أصحاب المصلحة هي في قاعدة الإستراتيجية.

Land Tenure Working Paper 8. This paper articulates the views and demands of marginalised groups regarding the tenure of land and other natural resources. It points out the importance of adopting human rights framework when developing Voluntary Guidelines. Such framework means addressing the unequal relationships of power and corruption within and behind prevailing land tenure structures. It makes the governance of tenure of land and other natural resources more accountable, transparent, democratic and participatory.

Hydroponically grown radish (Raphanus sativus) sprouts served in school lunch were epidemiologically implicated as causative vehicle of Escherichia coli O157:H7 at the largest outbreak occurred in Sakai City, Japan, in 1996. Laboratory experiments suggested the possibility that E. coli O157:H7 had grown during radish sprouts production.

There is a urgent need for a better understanding of the risks of soil degradation and their geographical distribution as well as a better knowledge of where degradation occurs at present. it would be desirable to combine soil conservation activities with other elements for increasing crop production.Erosion, salinity and alkalinity and the loss of soil fertility seriously reduce the natural potential of soils to produce food fibres. During the meeting, many criteria to assess the various types of soil degradation were outlined by the experts.
