This Regional Law establishes that indigenous peoples abazin, counting the population of 50 thousand persons, maintain traditional way of life and traditional community management, traditional knowledge based upon traditional nature management inherited from their ancestry. It shall be applicable to areas traditionally populated by indigenous peoples abazin performing traditional community management of their economic activities.

La presente Ley tiene por objeto establecer las disposiciones que regirán el proceso de ordenación del territorio en concordancia con la estrategia de desarrollo económico y social a largo plazo de la Nación.

This Act makes provision for the protection of soil from erosion. It also provides for the conservation, protection and improvement of the soil, the vegetation and the sources and resources of the water supplies of Namibia.

This Act establishes the Water Authority as a body corporate. The objects of the Authority shall be: (a) to ensure that water resources allocated for urban water supply are properly managed, distributed, allocated and used in ways which are consistent with proper water management practices; (b) to provide water and related services to meet the needs for users in a commercial manner consistent with the overall policies of the Government.

This Law establishes the framework on environmental protection, which aims at: (a) the rational use of natural resources; (b) the prevention of environmental damage and, when necessary, the rehabilitation and restoration of damaged environment; and (c) the international cooperation in the field of environmental protection.

La presente Ley establece que la administración del ambiente es una obligación del Estado y, por lo tanto, define los principios y normas básicas para la protección, conservación y recuperación del ambiente, promoviendo el uso sostenible de los recursos naturales. Además, ordena la gestión ambiental y la integra a los objetivos sociales y económicos, a efecto de lograr el desarrollo humano sostenible en el país.

This Act strengthens the legal framework concerning title to custom land and concerns management of custom land by customary institutions. It formalizes the recognition of customary institutions termed ‘nakamals’ and ‘custom area land tribunals’ to determine the rules of custom which form the basis of ownership and use of land in Vanuatu. In general the Act aims at holding of custom land by owners as a group. Custom land means land owned or occupied, or land in which an interest is held, by one or more persons in accordance with the rules of custom.

La présente loi détermine les règles et procédures de l’expropriation pour cause d’utilité publique et l’occupation temporaire.L’expropriation est la procédure par laquelle l’Etat peut, dans un but d’utilité publique et sous réserve d’une juste et préalable indemnité, contraindre toute personne à lui céder la propriété d’un immeuble. Les terrains nus, bâtis, aménagés, cultivés ou plantés indispensable à l’exécution, à la réalisation ou à l’application peuvent être acquis par voie d’expropriation pour cause d’utilité publique.

The Act concerns the setting aside of land as a national park and for the appointment by the Minister of the Board of Trustees, which shall control, manage and maintain national parks. The Board shall be a body corporate. It may in national parks, among other things: take measures that will ensure the preservation and security of animals and vegetation and set aside parts of a park as breeding places for animals or nurseries for vegetation. The Act also provides rules for the hunting of animals or the damaging or gathering of plants in a national park.

This Act applies to all kinds of pollution discharge in Vanuatu. Despite the provisions of any other Act, all persons and agencies having responsibilities under this Act, or whose functions and powers may relate to any matter or thing involving the environment, are to apply the precautionary principle. The Act sets out the Director of the Department of Environmental Protection and Conservation.

This Act concerns national parks and other protected areas and access to the countryside. The provisions of this Part of this Act shall have effect for the purpose of conserving and enhancing the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the protected areas. The Act provides for establishment, management and conservation of national parks and nature reserves and for compulsory acquisition of land for purposes of this Act. The Act also concerns public rights of way and access to open country.
