This paper explores the tradeoffs between domestic and productive uses of biomass energy sources in the Nile Basin of Ethiopia using a non -­‐separable farm household model where labor and other input allocations to energy collection and farming are analyzed simultaneously.

This article addresses the methodological complexities inherent in researching poverty, examining how to differentiate the poor from other social groups, and how to assess the relationships between poverty and technology adoption and impact. The use of specific types of quantitative and qualitative methods, the degree to which their integration was achieved, and the benefits of integration are analyzed.

In spite of the well known economic, social, and sustainability benefits of agroforestry systems, the adoption of agroforestry technologies continues to be very slow in developing countries. This is partly due to the design and implementation of agroforestry expansion programs, which rely heavily on the economic benefits and costs of agroforestry technologies, while the social and sustainability benefits remain unaccounted for. This paper is an attempt to incorporate social and sustainability benefits into the evaluation of agroforestry systems.

The purpose of this paper is to document the different steps followed to construct the Tunisian Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) for the year 2012. More precisely, it describes the estimation methods and the nature of data used in the development of the SAM, which has a specific focus on the agriculture and food sectors. The SAM also features a regional disaggregation by three agro-ecological zones.
