The session focused on the impact of regional land policy initiatives in advancing land reforms and governance. It showcased how efforts in Africa, the Arab states, and Europe have built upon each other's experiences to drive improvements in land governance. The African Land Policy Centre (ALPC), the Arab Land Initiative (LPI), and the Working Party on Land Governance (WPLA) presented key lessons learned, emphasizing their unique strengths and how they have maintained ties with broader regional and global frameworks. The discussion highlighted the initiatives' contributions to capacity-building efforts, especially in empowering universities, national land administration bodies, and other key stakeholders to promote policy and administrative changes. Through collaborative knowledge-sharing, these initiatives demonstrated how they have enhanced capacities for effective land administration, improved tenure security—particularly for women—and fostered responsible land investments. The panel underscored the crucial role that regional networks play in scaling capacity-building efforts, ensuring that training and institutional development are attuned to local contexts while aligned with global standards. Examples of strengthened institutions and successful reforms were provided, illustrating how regional cooperation has been instrumental in shaping land policies that are inclusive, effective, and sustainable. The session ultimately emphasized that regional collaboration is not only beneficial but necessary for fostering comprehensive land reforms that meet diverse socio-political and economic needs.
