This Regulation of the Minister of Environment Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry is composed of four paragraphs. A forest or land designated for afforestation can be purchased in the following cases: the forest or land is directly adjacent to lands managed by the National Forests; there is no common ownership; the field forest border has been regulated. Other immovables can be purchased as long as it is justified by needs of forest management run by organizational units.

The present Act applies to private managed forest land other than land that is in a tree farm licence area, a woodlot licence area or a community forest agreement area. Section 4 decrees that the Private Managed Forest Land Council is established as a corporation consisting of the members appointed under section 6. The object of the council is to encourage forest management practices on private managed forest land, taking into account the social, environmental and economic benefits of those practices.

Article 1 of the above-mentioned Law establishes that the division of forest land as a result of which a remaining part of land would reach no longer the minimum size for forestry management is forbidden. The minimum size is 1 ha and a minimum width of 40 m. However, if the public interest prevails such divisions are permitted as, for instance, in case of water works, mining activities, energy resources, improvement of agricultural structure, land reform, and so on. The text consists of 8 articles.

This Order establishes the list of requested technical documentation and the modalities of transfer of forest land to the category of unforested land for the purposes related to forest management. The aforesaid transfer can be carried out by initiative of the owners of forests and forest managers. The scope of forest land shall be construction of cone-drier, seed storage facilities of forest species, and planting of forest nurseries. District forestry administration shall submit application, containing technical survey and map of the forest land plot, to the local executive body.

This Act provides for the management and protection of forest resources in Northern Ireland. It, among other things, specifies functions and powers of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, provides for the protection of trees from damage and provides for restrictions on the felling of trees.The Department shall promote forestry on a wider footing than the traditional primary role of developing afforestation, the supply of timber, and the maintenance of reserves of growing trees.
