The Act has been amended as per the deletion and substitution of paragraph 1 and the insertion of a new paragraph 1A; paragraph 2, 3 and 4 underwent minor changes in terms of substitution of sentences and some additions. This Act aims at preventing soil erosion and damages to public land caused by vehicular traffic. Under section 5, the Governor in Council may declare any public land to be an erosion hazard area, and the Act provides for the management of such areas.
