Water scarcity is considered to be one of the largest threats for many parts of Africa. Under water scarce conditions reducing the consumption of water and preventing pollution of accessible water resources is essential. Combating water scarcity in both dimensions of quality and quantity is of special relevance for the LNV priority regions (including those in Water Mondiaal). Future LNV policies to address food security in Africa will affect the use, spread and fate of agrochemicals as well.

Ante la demanda, el gobierno identificó unas tierras de compensación, alejadas de las comunidades de origen que si bien generaron frustración en un inicio, los guaraníes convirtieron en una oportunidad, a través de planes de manejo estas tierras se convirtieron en uno de los proyectos de ganadería colectiva más importantes.

El territorio weenhayek aún continúa en proceso de saneamiento. De los 197.000 hectáreas demandadas por los indígenas solo se tituló el 30%. En el proceso hubo problemas con ganaderos quienes se apropiaron de parte de lo demandado.Por ese motivo, a modo de proteger y defender su territorio, las familias weenhayek como medida estratégica desdoblaron sus comunidades constituyendo unas nuevas.

En este texto sistematiza una experiencia familiar de trabajo de cosecha de agua para la producción agropecuaria y para el consumo en la comunidad Phina Sallathiji del municipio de Corocoro, provincia Pacajes de departamento de La Paz en Bolivia.

This country profile describes the state of the water resources and water use, as well as the state of agricultural water management in Saudi Arabia. The aim of this report is to describe the particularities of the country and the problems met in the development of the water resources, and irrigation in particular. Irrigation trends, existing policies and legislation to water use in agriculture, possible treaties and agreements between countries as well as prospects for water management in agriculture are presented, as described in literature.

Dans le cadre des divers travaux réalisés sur l’Algérie par le Comité Technique Foncier & Développement, deux policy briefs ont été réalisé portant respectivement sur :

Preliminary findings on the effects of land use in the Masinga Dam catchment, Kenya, on the storage capacity of the reservoir are presented. Remote sensing and GIS techniques, supplemented with ground reports, were used to determine areas most susceptible to erosion. A representative catchment was then chosen for rainy season monitoring of soil loss, river suspended sediments and discharge response to rainfall. In addition, Gerlach-type traps were used to evaluate erosion rates under different crop covers and slope gradients.

Bien qu’étant une des ressources les plus essentielles pour toute vie sur Terre, l’eau douce ne représente que 3% des ressources d’eau de la planète, et seulement 0,5% de cette eau douce est facilement accessible aux humains. De plus, les ressources d’eau douce (RED) disponibles sont inégalement distribuées à travers le globe, de nombreuses régions et populations faisant face à des problèmes de pénurie et de qualité d’eau.
