The Hills Leasehold Forestry and Forage Development Project provides scope for addressing the need to integrate women into the mainstream of the project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. The project which is in its second year of implementation, realised the need to undertake a critical analysis of the project in its various aspects from a gender perspective. Subsequently an independent consultant was hired accordingly for a duration of three months. This report contains the findings, conclusions and recommendations of the consultant in this regard.

This publication is a revised and updated version of World Soil Resources Reports No. 84 and 103 and presents the international soil classification system. Every soil in the world can be allocated to one of the 32 Reference Soil Groups as defined in this document, and can further be characterized by a set of qualifiers. The resulting soil name provides information on soil genesis, soil ecological function and soil properties relevant for land use and management.

Programación lineal y el programa PASTOR fueron utilizados para modelar una finca ganadera de 70 ha que podría incluir: 1) pasturas naturales con y sin cercas vivas; 2) mezclas de Brachiaria brizantha/Arachis pintoi; 3) pasturas en callejones (B. brizantha/Erythrina berteroana) y 4) pastoreo en plantaciones de Tectona grandis. Si el precio de la leche se incrementa 10 o 25%, el modelo predice que la producción de leche se incrementaría 14 o 41%, respectivamente. This methodology presents requirements for development and assessment of a standardized baseline for quantification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions in smallholder dairy systems. It also includes guidance for quantification of baseline GHG emissions from dairy production in a defined geographical area within a country, for quantification of with-project GHG emissions, leakage, and net emission reductions due to project implementation. The general approach outlined in the methodology is based on the following key elements.

The Kagera Transboundary Agro ‐ ecosystem management project is a regional project comprising four East African countries ‐ Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda ‐ that share the Kagera river basin. The agro‐ecosystems in the Kagera basin are facing increasing pressure as a result of rapid population growth and agricultural and livestock intensification characterized by progressive reduction in farm sizes and unsustainable land use and management practices.

This manual complements FAO Land Tenure Studies 6: The design of land consolidation pilot projects in Central and Eastern Europe. The manual concentrates on the practical aspects of defining and implementing the first pilot projects. It identifies the main conditions that should be in place before the project starts, and it defines potentials and constraints. It draws attention to issues that should be addressed and it discusses methods, tools and techniques. The manual identifies the main activities in a pilot project and their sequence.
