The purpose of this report was to evaluate the gender inequality that currently exists in land ownership in Zambia. Zambia currently has two land tenure systems, both of which are relic of the colonial era. In both of these systems, land ownership is along patriarchal lines, with women having little land security.
We recognize the economic and social significance of good land management, including soil, We stress that desertification, land degradation and drought are challenges of a global dimension and continue to pose serious challenges to the sustainable development of all countries, We recognize the need for urgent action to reverse land degradation.
