El mapa y los datos que se presentan en esta hoja informan sobre el resultado de la actualización de la línea de base del sistema de información comunitaria sobre los nativos de la Amazonia peruana (SICNA) en la región amazónica de San Martín realizada por el Instituto del Bien Común (IBC).  Se llevó a cabo durante el primer semestre de 2016, con el apoyo de la Cooperación Alemana, implementado por el GIZ, a través de su proyecto ProTierras Comunales.

This report on the Scoping and Status Study on Land and Conflict reviews the global context and the inspiration driving the study, The three key findings of the study are the existence of multiple areas of UN engagement on land and conflict across the UN pillars, the existence of multiple entry points for improved synergy and that the status quo is not fit for purpose. Based on the above findings, the study presents six recommendations  for consideration by the Rule of Law Resource and Coordination Group, the UN Working Group on Transition, other non-UN entities and Member States.

Rural-rural Migration and Land Conflicts: Implications on Agricultural Productivity in Uganda

We use community and household data with plot-level information to explore the determinants of different forms of land conflicts and the conflicts’ impact on agricultural productivity in Uganda. Tracing rural-rural migration patterns, we find that communities that receive/host more immigrants (and thus have many coexisting tribes) tend to have more land conflicts than those sending migrants out.

During revolution and national unification, Vietnamese government nationalized agricultural and forest land throughout the country. While agricultural land was de-collectivized in the Doi moi reforms since mid-1980s, the majority of forest and forest land has continued to be managed by state enterprises. For members of Vietnam’s 53 recognized ethnic minority groups, the formation of state-owned forest enterprises (SFEs) has meant the end of customary tenure arrangements, leading to exclusion from traditional lands used for agriculture, hunting, and collection of non-timber forest products.
