Understanding farmer decisions on land use conversions (LUC) in rural areas has significant importance to understand and predict the patterns of land use changes in China. Many methods have been developed to search for the influencing factors on land use changes at farm household level. However, these methods have difficulty in evaluating the intertwined influences between factors and achieving farmer decision rules on LUC.

The practice of forced eviction is a global phenomenon. Between 1995 and 2005, a survey covering only ten countries, showed that over ten million people were forcibly evicted. These people were left homeless and subject to deeper poverty, discrimination and social exclusion. A number of such evictions involve entire communities of tens or even hundreds of thousands of people. Such communities are invariably evicted against their will and in most cases without any compensation or alternative housing.

En el Perú de los últimos años  «lo rural» se hace visible sobre todo asociado a conflictos,  que  suelen son de carácter medioambiental o vinculados al narcotrafico y la violencia política. En general falta visibilidad de lo rural y prima un desinterés respecto a su problemática en la sociedad peruana y sus organizaciones.  

Agricultura para el desarrollo es el resultado de un proceso de análisis y consulta realizado por Oxfam Internacional entre finales de 2007 y la primera mitad de 2008, antes de que el impacto de la crisis financiera se hiciera sentir a lo largo de todo el mundo en desarrollo. Se publica ante un escenario de futuro lleno de inestabilidad e incertidumbre, donde la percepción de riesgo es elevada, pero también la de estar ante una oportunidad única de generar el cambio político que conlleve a un nuevo equilibrio mundial.

El documento intenta explicar la relación entre política agraria, "frontera agrícola"/dinámica de colonización (y el rol de la coca en este proceso), relaciones de poder y desafios de la ciudadanía.

Los participantes en la Reunión de Consulta y Coordinación sobre el Precio de los Alimentos y la Seguridad Alimentaria en América Latina y el Caribe, desarrollada en el SELA (Caracas, 17 y 18 de septiembre de 2009), tomaron nota con interés del documento elaborado por la Secretaría Permanente, titulado “Crisis Alimentaria en América Latina y el Caribe. Propuesta de Acciones a nivel regional” (SP/RCC-PAYSAALC/DT N° 2-09) el cual sirvió de base a las discusiones que tuvieron city entre los delegados de los Estados Miembros.
