In an agrarian economy like Bangladesh, the importance of land in the production process need not be overemphasized. Personal possession of land is considered to be a symbol of social prestige and security. Land plays a very important role in both income generation and social life in various ways. In view of the scarcity of land and the future population management, the ministry of land has a very important role to be played in the Delta Plan 2100 formulation project. As per the provisions of rule 10 of the rules of procedures of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Conference of the Parties (COP), the second intersessional meeting of the Bureau of the thirteenth session of the COP (COP 13) held in Guiyang, China, on 26 February 2019, endorsed the inclusion of a new agenda item on land tenure, under new and emerging issues, for consideration at COP 14. The Bureau further requested the secretariat to submit a background document in that respect.

Uzbekistan has embarked on significant reforms since early 2017, aiming to improve the lives of ordinary citizens, enable business development, and open up to neighbors. The scale of changes is unprecedented. The new government aspires to modernize the country and to move it toward upper middle-income status. The formulation of the country partnership strategy (CPS) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is timely for supporting this reform agenda through investment financing, policy support, and capacity development.

In summary, China presents a particularly intriguing case for the study of land system dynamics with its spatial patterns of cropland and crops, crop structure and diversity, land transfer and consolidation, and land use intensity changes against the backdrop of its rapid socio-economic transformation, globalization, and environmental challenges. Moreover, after 40 years since the commencement of China’s Economic Reform and the de-collectivization of agriculture, it is a good time to review and reflect how China’s agricultural land systems have been transformed.
