The Pinheiro Principles provide restitution practitioners, as well as States and UN and others agencies, with a consolidated text relating to the legal, policy, procedural, institutional and technical implementation mechanisms for housing and property restitution. As such, the Principles provide specific policy guidance regarding how to ensure the right to housing and property restitution in practice and for the implementation of restitution laws, programmes and policies, based on existing international human rights, humanitarian, refugee and national standards.

Les Etudes sur les régimes fonciers réalisées par la FAO sont des exposés concis explorant le domaine, souvent complexe et sujet à controverse, du régime foncier, en particulier dans ses interactions avec la sécurité alimentaire, la réduction de la pauvreté et le développement rural. Ces études ne prétendent pas à l’exhaustivité, mais reflètent plutôt les «bonnes pratiques» identifiées par la FAO et ses nombreux collaborateurs internationaux dans le contexte spécifique d’un aspect donné des régimes fonciers et de leur administration.

The present Ordinance implements the Land Transaction Act of 9 December 1992. In particular, the Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the correct and efficient enforcement of the afore-mentioned Act. This Regulation concerns rural land management and rights and use of rural land in Amhara National Region. It seeks to create favourable conditions enabling the land administration system to promote long-lasting agricultural development and productivity in the regional state by causing the full implementation of the rights and obligations pertaining to the rural land holders as are stipulated under the Revised Rural Land Administration and Use Determination Proclamation.

For historical reasons, Kenya inherited a highly skewed system of land ownership at independence in 1963. British colonialism in Kenya was not merely administrative. Rather, it was accompanied by massive and widespread land alienation for the benefit of settler agriculture. As a result the best agricultural land-the White Highlands and the adjacent rangelands were taken from the Africans, without compensation, and parceled out to white settlers.
