Despite the functioning of tomato production in the financial and nutritional healthy living of most farm families in Ghana, the effects of climate variations on tomato production via the outbreak of tomato pest is generally understudied. Thus, this study aims to explain the effects of climate variation on tomato crops via the outbreak of tomato pests using structural equation modeling (SEM). The profile of the study regions involved the Ashanti Region (AR), Bono Region (BR), and Upper East Region (UER).

The detrimental impact of hydro-meteorological risks on agriculture frequently leads to food insecurity, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Policy-makers should, therefore, adopt suitable policies that reduce the consequences of hydro-meteorological hazards on communities and economies. Moreover, there is an urgent need for timely and targeted climate-related knowledge, information, and solutions to help decision-makers prevent climate-related losses and maximize benefits.

Land has historically been a focal point of conflict, especially in Fragile and Conflict-affected Settings (FCS), where disputes over forests and land use often intersect with broader socio-political dynamics, including unfair resource allocation, marginalization, and governance challenges. Factors such as climate change, population growth, and urbanization are anticipated to intensify these conflicts in the coming decades.

Increased reliance on fertilizers and pesticides in rice production has proven unsustainable and ineffective due to soil depletion and pesticide-induced pest outbreaks, rising fertilizer costs, and the negative effects of pesticide and fertilizer use on human health and the environment. The integrated rice-fish system offers a large range of environmental, economic, and social benefits by improving diversification, intensification, profitability, and sustainability through the complementary utilization of land and water uses.

This report was prepared in response to a request from the Vietnamese government, notably that of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Its aim is to provide information on the carbon market in general, but also specifically as it relates to forestry, with a focus on blue carbon. This information is intended to support the government to design and implement high quality blue carbon policies, projects and credits.

The agribusiness sector development is often portrayed as an essential component of economic development. Though Benin is a country with inestimable agricultural potential, the agribusiness sector appears unappealing to the local youths. Prior investigations diagnosed the impeding factors as a paucity of financial resource and a dearth of land and technical knowledge. This article departs from past studies by considering the importance of informal institutions for youth participation in the agribusiness sector.

This document will be used as a reference point in engaging stakeholders to influence policy through the iFEED process. The stakeholders identified will be grouped into working groups based on ratings on areas of interest and positions to integrate iFEED results to influence policies at various levels. Work Package 3 will work closely with stakeholders to organise stakeholder engagements for iFEED by convening and coordinating the activities of working groups.

â—¼ The integration of local traditional wisdom with academic-scientific knowledge has the potential to generate innovative and more effective solutions to challenges faced by farmers.
â—¼ Adopting co-creation concepts for developing digital innovations can be an alternative to developing digital tools that meet the needs and expectations of farmers and extension agents, hence, fostering a sense of ownership and increasing adoption.

Urban space is highly unequal, gendered, and divided. Urban policy and development planning often overlook the issue of food and water security for the most marginalized populations, who are often unregistered and considered as ‘temporary’ residents. In Bangladesh, the rural-urban migration of women is increasingly common. However, research on gender, food and water security in agricultural organizations often focuses on rural contexts where food is produced.

On the 11th of June 2023, the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and the Agricultural Research Center (ARC) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt (MoALR) organized a Multistakeholder Workshop titled “To a Better Partnership for Evidence-based Agrifood Policy Research.” The workshop agenda is provided in Appendix 1. About 29 representatives of stakeholders attended the workshop, including high-level policymakers, researchers, and delegates fro various agricultural and food policy organizations.
