The Excellence in Agronomy (EiA) Initiative supports the evaluation and scaling of mechanized direct seeding in Cambodia. To enhance its existing scaling strategy, a workshop on Innovation Packaging and Scaling Readiness (IPSR) was held on 25 August in Phnom Penh. The workshop focused on the challenges, solutions, innovation readiness and innovation use of mechanized direct seeded rice (mDSR) in Cambodia. Around 30 participants coming from the government, private sector and NGO attended the event.

This policy brief examines consequences of the Russia-Ukraine war on India’s agrifood systems, focusing on impacts on staple foods and agricultural inputs, as well as the Government of India’s policy responses to the war. The methodology is based on content analysis of articles, published papers, reports, and official announcements, in addition to analyzing data from a variety of international and Government of India sources. India plays a critical role in global agricultural production.

The Ethiopian Meteorology Institute (EMI) generates seasonal climate outlook forums three times a year and provides this information to various socio-economic sectors. These forecasts are crucial in sustaining and developing Ethiopia, as they help minimize risks associated with weather and climate hazards while maximizing positive impacts. The institute has implemented the National Framework for Climate Services in Ethiopia (NFCS-E) and started co-designing and co-producing climate services with key socio-economic sectors.

The UNDP & Life Peace Institute (LPI) report on mapping climate security adaptations highlights that the link between climate and conflict depends on the interplay of exposure to climate hazards, vulnerability, and coping capacity of states and communities. Therefore, due increasing impacts of Climate Change (CC), it is crucial for the Kenyan governments to identify and mitigate climate security1 risks both at national and county levels. The National Climate Action Plan (NCCAP) outlines the Kenyan government’s strategy on mitigation and adaptation to climate change and its effects.

SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) and International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) organized a four-day training program for SAARC member countries representatives on Climate Smart Agriculture in South Asia: Technologies, Policies, and Digital Innovation. 28 senior government officials and high-ranking country representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka participated in this training program. The details of the participants are presented in Annexure 4.

This comprehensive review explores the historical and cultural significance of fire management in Sub-Sahara Africa's rangelands, emphasizing its integral role in socio-cultural practices and livelihoods. While traditional fire use aligns with herders' knowledge for optimal pasture management, recent limitations arise from government policies, erratic rainfall, and population pressures. The ecological effects of fire on rangelands showcase its potential for ecological renewal, influencing species diversity, biomass, and soil properties.

On July 24, 2023, the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute (LARI) under the Ministry of Agriculture organized a Multistakeholder Workshop on “National Alliance of Stakeholders for the Wheat Sector in Lebanon”. The agenda of the workshop is provided in Appendix 1.

Universal access to affordable clean energy continues to be a challenge across the globe. Women’s and marginalised groups’ access to clean energy services and green technologies remains constrained by intersectional social factors and gender-blind policies. The recurrent failure of policies to consider differentiated gender and social inclusion needs is a significant obstacle to sustainable development.

Rwanda has made remarkable economic progress during the past two decades, and its annual GDP growth rate reached more than 7 percent during the 2009 to 2019 period (NISR 2021). The rapid economic growth has been pro-poor, and the poverty rate fell from 58.9 percent in 2000/01 to 38.2 percent in 2016/17 (NISR 2018). The country has also emerged as a leader among sub-Saharan African countries in promoting innovation, gender equality, and an enabling business environment for development.

The webinar, hosted by the digital innovation initiative under work package 4, focused on Food System Monitoring and featured a panel of experts who shared insights from their work in various countries. The speakers highlighted the benefits of digital transformation in agriculture, particularly in regions with limited traditional information sources.

This scoping review is one of the deliverables of WP3, which reviews past literature and projects on AMU and AMR in the aquatic food systems of Bangladesh from a One Health perspective. The purpose of this review is to gain a better understanding of the challenges of AMU and AMR in the prevailing aquatic food

On 6 February 2022, the African Union’s (AU's) Climate Change and Resilient Development Strategy and Action Plan (2022-2032) was endorsed at the 35th Ordinary Session of the AU’s Assembly of African Heads of State and Government. This is Africa’s first collective climate change action plan and Strategy that details specific suggested actions the continent needs to urgently achieve to respond to climate change. Subsequently, on the 19-20 June 2023, the AU hosted a Strategic Climate Investment Partnership Roundtable in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
