En Amazonie brésilienne, des paysans et paysannes restaurent les forêts via des pratiques agroforestières. S’il ne s’agit pas de retrouver une forêt « naturelle », certaines agroforêts abritent tout de même près de 200 espèces différentes par hectare. Les avantages de l’agroforesterie sont nombreux : sols de nouveau fertiles, biodiversité en hausse, regain économique et surtout amélioration visible de l’alimentation et de la santé des populations locales.

La Tanzanie a été l’un des pays les plus fortement ciblés par l’énorme ruée sur les terres agricoles qui a suivi les crises alimentaire et financière de 2008 et qui était censée aider à résoudre l’insécurité alimentaire mondiale. Les grands projets agricoles, qui sont devenus une stratégie de choix pour les donateurs, les multinationales et certains gouvernements, ont finalement fait plus de mal que de bien en exacerbant les conflits fonciers et en détruisant les moyens de subsistance des populations. En Tanzanie, la plupart de ces projets se sont rapidement effondrés et ont plongé dans la misère la paysannerie. Malgré ce bilan tragique, le gouvernement tanzanien lance une nouvelle vague d’investissements agro-industriels étrangers en transformant des centaines de milliers d’hectares de terres en « blocs agricoles » dans lesquels les entreprises produiront des cultures destinées à l’exportation et non des aliments locaux pour la population. Dans la mesure où la Chine considère la Tanzanie comme une nouvelle source d’approvisionnement en soja, les conditions pourraient être réunies pour une nouvelle vague d’accaparement des terres, avec des conséquences désastreuses pour les petites exploitations tanzaniennes.

Le 21 mars dernier, la 8e Conférence mondiale sur l’agriculture familiale se clôturait sur une déclaration finale reconnaissant le rôle « vital » des agricultrices et agriculteurs familiaux pour la durabilité de la planète. Un engagement partagé par le Cirad, membre de l’alliance du Forum rural mondial. Morceaux choisis de cet événement décisif à mi-parcours de la décennie des Nations unies pour l’agriculture familiale (2019-2028).

« Le sol a longtemps été perçu comme un simple support dans lequel il est facile d’ajouter artificiellement certains éléments. Un peu d’engrais pour la production agricole, par exemple. En vérité, le sol n’est pas un simple réservoir de nutriments, et sa santé globale est ce qui garantit le bon fonctionnement de tout un tas de services écosystémiques indispensables aux activités humaines. »

De grandes manifestations agricoles ont éclaté dans au moins 65 pays au cours de l'année écoulée. De l'Inde au Kenya en passant par la Colombie et la France, le désespoir a atteint un point de rupture. Les communautés agricoles avertissent qu'en l'absence de meilleurs prix et d'une plus grande protection, leur avenir est menacé. Depuis plus de trente ans, des mouvements paysans comme La Via Campesina dénoncent l'Organisation mondiale du commerce et le nombre croissant d'accords bilatéraux de libre-échange qui détruisent leurs moyens de subsistance.

Recrutée comme assistante à l’Université de Yaoundé 1 en décembre 2011, j’ai progressé d’assistant à Professeure titulaire, en mettant l’accent de mes travaux de recherches sur la gouvernance foncière, sous la direction du Professeur Tchawa. En novembre 2019, j’ai été sélectionnée pour la mobilité des enseignants DAAD/NELGA et j’ai eu l’opportunité de donner des cours sur la gouvernance foncière à l’Université Omar Bongo du Gabon. Ce programme, financé par GIZ-SLGA et mis en œuvre par le DAAD, a facilité le partage d’expériences, les échanges bénéfiques, et renforcé mes capacités de conseil en matière de gouvernance foncière en Afrique.
Le programme NELGA a non seulement renforcé mes capacités en matière de gouvernance foncière, mais il a également amélioré ma maîtrise de la langue anglaise. Le partage d’expériences avec des pays d’Afrique centrale, d’Afrique de l’Ouest et d’Afrique de l’Est, a contribué à la rédaction de nombreux articles et ouvrages scientifiques qui m’ont valu d’être promue Professeure associée à l’université de Yaoundé I.
J’ai aussi participé activement à des projets de recherche collaborative, contribué à des notes de synthèse politique et à des missions exploratoires visant à influencer les décisions politiques et renforcer la collaboration entre les universités d’Afrique centrale dans le cadre de l’initiative NELGA. Dans mes fonctions administratives, j’ai coordonné des séminaires, des ateliers et des missions liées à la gouvernance foncière, à la prévention des conflits fonciers et à la révision des programmes d’études.
Faire des présentations à la cinquième Conférence africaine sur les politiques foncières (CLPA-2023) et au Symposium international de géographie facilitent mon renforcement des capacités continue et démontrent ainsi mon engagement à faire progresser la gouvernance foncière en Afrique. Depuis le mois de mars 2024, je suis la nouvelle Coordonnatrice du Master Professionnel en Urbanisme, Aménagement et Développement Urbain à la Faculté des arts, lettres et Sciences humaines de l’Université de Yaoundé 1.
