Strengthen forest landscape planning and management in a high-biodiversity part of Gabon’s Congo forest area, to enhance biodiversity conservation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and land degradation

Farmers with secure land rights are better able to take care of their land and respond to the impacts of climate change. In Myanmar, Landesa is working with communities and the government to promote Community Forest Certificates, which legalize a way of life local people have been practicing for generations: farming among the trees. Besides giving families rights to farm and live in the forests, CFC's also gives community members responsibilities for caring for this important natural area.

Seventy-five percent of the world's poorest people live in rural areas where land is a critical asset, but more than half these families lack either access to land or a secure stake in the land they farm. Landesa partners with governments to provide policy and implementation support to strengthen the land rights of millions of men and women in rural African communities. Your donation will support our activities across Africa, including targeted projects in Liberia, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

Due to frequent occurrence of natural disasters the Government has endorsed number of laws and regulations, and developed relevant structure for DRM. However, the disaster risk governance requires further improvement. The project will assist the Government to expand approaches to risk governance at the national level involving the Government, civil society and the international community and improving local risk governance using risk assessments and risk informed land use planning targeting land owners and users.
