The purpose of the workshop was to share and validate the findings of the scoping study carried out by WorldFish from March to July, 2023. The objective of the study was to assess through a gender lens how climate change affects the fishing communities in two riparian counties, specifically in Homabay and Migori counties, which are located along Kenya’s Lake Victoria Zone Region.

Scoping Study Report: Potential Existing Value Chains in the North-West Region of Tunisia

The objective of this report is to select the main value chains with potential to integrate the agroecological principles in the Northwest of Tunisia. A descriptive analysis on the two governorates chosen was first made, then 4 focus group discussions were organized with local farmers associations. The VC assessment according to agroecological principles conducted with the main actors places the olive oil VC as the major value chain with agroecological character.

Measuring above-ground carbon stock using spatial analysis and the InVEST model: Application in the Thoria Watershed, India

We present an application of the method to the Thoria watershed in India. We analyze land cover changes in the Thoria watershed between the years 2000, 2020 and future scenarios, and subsequently map the above-ground carbon stock using the InVEST model along with remotely sensed data. The land use products and above-ground carbon stock modelling results can be used by diverse stakeholders to support land use planning, especially decisions around how to allocate land resource to balance food production, carbon sequestration, and other ecosystem services provided by common lands.

Here, we present an integrated approach to simulating the impacts of large dams, integrating river systems infrastructure, hydrodynamic, and economywide models. We apply the framework to examine the biophysical, GDP, and distributional impacts of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) on Sudan.
