FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Technical Papers 465: The paper explores both the legal and the economic aspects of the management of each of the several different categories of shared stocks. In so doing, the paper draws heavily upon the results of the October 2002 Norway-FAO Expert Consultation on the Management of Shared Fish Stocks, and in particular upon those results arising from the many case studies presented at the consultation.

FAO Investment Centre environmental reports are directed to environment and natural resources specialists. They address environmental issues associated with the formulation of investment projects for the agricultural/rural sector. This report describes an environmental assessment that contributed to improvements in the project design for the Aberdares Natural Resources Development Project in Kenya. The objective of this six-year project was to conserve and develop the natural resources of the Aberdares region based on an integrated management approach involving local communities.

Ce manuel de terrain contient les définitions et les procédés utilisés pour planifier et réaliser un inventaire national des ressources forestières, suivant l’approche développée par le Département des forêts de la FAO dans le cadre du programme d’Évaluation des ressources forestières (FRA). La méthodologie repose sur un échantillonnage du pays et utilise des placettes permanentes de terrain. L’approche a été testée et mise en œuvre dans plusieurs pays depuis 2000 (Costa Rica, Guatemala, Philippines, Cameroun et Liban).

L’équipe de la FAO œuvre également pour le développement de moyens d’existence résilients face aux crises, à travers l’Equipe sous-régionale Résilience pour l’Afrique de l’Ouest/Sahel (REOWA), basée à Dakar.

Cooperation between Togo and FAO began with an inventory of land and water resources in 1960, the year Togo country joined the Organization. A representation was opened in 1980, after which the partnership focused on agricultural development, environmental protection and natural resource management. Along with a number of development projects, FAO has supported institutional reform and assisted with the National Agricultural Investment and Food Security Plans. Largely dependent on rain-fed agriculture, Togo is vulnerable to climate change largely rain.
