The article considers the role and importance of the borderline position of the Belarusian-Lithuanian region, which influences the transformation processes of territorial structures. Particular attention is paid to the areas of coordinated activities on the formation and functioning of transboundary protected natural areas, as well as spatial planning activities for the sustainable use of their constituent natural complexes. The resulted results of researches are received within the limits of realization in 2014-2015. The international Belarusian-Lithuanian project ''Management of Transboundary Protected Areas of Alytus County and Grodno Region and their Integration into the Pan-European Ecological Network'' implemented within the framework of the EU-Latvia Cross Border Cooperation Program ''Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus''.
В статье рассмотрена роль и значение приграничного положения белорусско-литовского региона, влияющего на трансформационные процессы территориальных структур. Особое внимание уделено направлениям скоординированной деятельности по формированию и функционированию трансграничных охраняемых природных территорий, а также пространственно-планировочным мероприятиям по устойчивому использованию слагающих их природных комплексов. Приведенные результаты исследований получены в рамках реализации в 2014–2015 гг. Международного белорусско-литовского проекта «Менеджмент трансграничных особо охраняемых природных территорий Алитусского уезда и Гродненской области и их интеграция в Общеевропейскую экологическую сеть», выполненного в рамках программы Евросоюза по трансграничному сотрудничеству «Латвия-Литва-Беларусь».
