This Act concerns law of succession in Uganda. It specifies criteria of succession of rights and procedures for succession. It also provides for administration of immovable property in certain cases and defines rights and duties in relation with the cultivation of land by occupiers.
This Act concerns official survey of lands on order of the Commissioner of Lands or the Minister. It also establishes the Surveyors Licensing Board and provides for licensing of land surveyors. The Board shall keep a register of licensed surveyors.
This Act makes provision for the registration of land surveyors, quantity surveyors, building surveyors, mining and hydrological surveyors and valuation surveyors, as well as land agents and other professionals responsible for the management of land or buildings. It establishes the Surveyors Registration Board and defines its functions and powers.
This Act makes provision in relation with any mortgage, charge, debenture, loan agreement or other encumbrance, whether legal or equitable, which constitutes a charge over an estate or interest in land in Uganda or partly elsewhere.
This Act establishes the National Enterprise Corporation, defines its functions and powers and provides with respect to its administration and operations.
This Act sets out the procedures for the acquisition of land by the State for public purposes. The Minister may, by Statutory Instrument, make a declaration to the effect that specified land is required by the Government for a public purpose. Appeal may be had against an award of compensation made by an assessment officer.
This Act requires copies of provisional certificates of claims issued under the Uganda Agreement, 1900 to land owners in Buganda to be filed in the Department of Lands and Surveys of the Government and enhances search and examination by applicants of such copies.
This Act makes provision for the declaration and protection of preserved and protected objects (as defined). The Act also provides for acquisition of land any land under Land Acquisition Act of any land which appears to the Minister to be required for the purposes of preserving or affording access to the object.
This Act provides for the continuation of the Development Loans Fund established under the African Loans Fund Act and provides with respect to its administration.
This Act prescribes that a person, other than a landlord or his or her attorney or the legal owner of a reversion, shall only act as bailiff to levy any distress for rent if authorized by a certificate of a certifying officer. A certificate may be general or apply to a particular distress or distresses.
This Act grants powers to the Minister to make emergency regulations during an emergency proclaimed by a Proclamation issued under article 110 of the Constitution. The Regulations may, among other things, authorize the acquisition on behalf of the Government of any property, including land.
This Act makes provision for the management of estates of a person who disappears without making provision for the administration of his or her estate. Relatives may apply to court for an order which appoints a manager for the estate of the missing person.
