Gender is of particular interest in the sustainable management of wildlife as it relates to the use, attitudes, and knowledge of the resource. Different strategies are often needed to fully engage both women and men in wildlife-related management. This fact sheet shows the important role played by gender in wildlife use and conservation; it highlights key issues, experiences and knowledge, challenges and opportunities, as well as what is still to be learned.

De nos jours, les problématiques comme le changement climatique et la sécurité alimentaire nécessitent des approches multidisciplinaires et l’action des parties prenantes dans le processus d’apprentissage social afin de pouvoir trouver des moyens d’existence capables de s’adapter. Cela nécessite davantage d’information, de connaissances et de participation qui placent les besoins en actions de communication planifiées au centre des initiatives de développement (CSDI).

This report comments on the situation of forest products in Niger. The first part of the report analyses the current uses and importance of forest products in the country followed by a special review on wood production and its uses. The later part looks into the collection, analysis and dissemination process and evaluates the methodologies used during the process. The most important products are also looked into in detail followed by some suggestions on how the overall process could be improved.

This forty-page paper is the second of three reports on forest resources in Madagascar. It is compose of five main parts focusing on the review, compilation and analysis of data related the industrial forest plantations sector in the country. The main topics discussed are the actual state of industrial plantations, the analysis of trends, etc. A complete conclusion is provided followed by a series of tables in the annexes.
