This Bulletin contains the papers and proceedings of the FAO/SIDA Workshop on Organic Materials and Soil Productivity in the Near East. In view of the important complementary effect of organic materials to mineral fertilizers and their role in improving the soil?s physical properties, the Workshop has dealt with a wide variety of items on techniques and uses of the organic materials and wastes including, composting, bio-fertilizers and biogas, the environmental and health aspects, and action guidelines for follow-up activities in the Near East countries.

This Ordinance sets forth the updated version of the Code of Good Agricultural Practice. The creation of this Code comes along with the implementation of Council Directive 91/676/EEC on the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources. The Code has the aim of promoting guidelines able to assist farmers to reduce water pollution caused by fertilizers from agricultural sources and to prevent further such pollution and to set the acceptable environmental conditions for the use of urban waste water for irrigation purposes.

Interim Guidelines and Standards for Environmental Pollution Control in Nigeria.

Interim guidelines and standards relate to six areas of environmental pollution control are issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA). These guidelines and standards relate to six (6) areas of environmental pollution control: Effluent limitations (ii) Water quality for industrial water uses at point of in-take (iii) Industrial emission limitations (iv) Noise exposure limitations (v) Management of solid and hazardous wastes (vi) Pollution abatement in industries.

The contracting parties propose to develop cooperation in the field of environmental protection and restoration. Priority areas are air pollution, harmonization of national, regional and international law, neutralization of wastes and recycling, protection of water quality, protection against noise and vibration, protection of biodiversity, exchange of information regarding soil conservation and energy use, protected areas and their utilization, EIA, training, exchange of information regarding the implementation of EC environmental directives.

This Ordinance gives definitions and sets rules for the elimination of plant afflictions in the Aravah and Negev areas. Section (1) gives definitions. Section (2) sets rules for the eliminations of plant afflictions; The holder of a field should uproot or eliminate weeds and must keep the field clean of waste that should be transferred to a waste disposal area. Fields must be plowed ten days after harvest and kept clean during waiting period; these rules will apply on processed fields and their adjacent areas within 20 meters.

The present Regulation establishes the modalities of calculation of damage caused by soil pollution with chemicals, determines the modalities of calculation of charges for the compensation of damage caused by soil pollution with chemicals, including soil pollution caused by unauthorized dumping of industrial, domestic and other categories of waste and covers all categories of land irrespectively of their situation and forms of property. The document consists of 3 sections and contains 4 Annexes. Section I regards the sphere of application. Section 2 lays down general provisions.
