The purpose of the present Act is to ensure the registration of title to and interests in land. The Act contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms employed therein such as, for example, “abstract directory”, “application”, “assignment”, “condominium plan”, “Controller of Surveys”, “corporation”, “Crown”, “Deputy Registrar”, “land registry”, “lease”, “mineral parcel”, “mineral title”, “registration”, etc.

This Act contains special provisions regarding the rights of neighbouring real estate proprietors. Real servitude and the right of use are provided for as well. For all the issues related to the use of real estates and not covered by this Act, the provisions of the Civil Code shall be applied.

This Law establishes legal, organizational and financial principles of regulation of social relations dealing with expropriation of land plots in private ownership for public needs. Expropriation shall be performed through buy-out and payment of compensation to the owners of expropriated land plots. Expropriation and buy-out shall be performed in accordance with the acting legislation. Buy-out price shall include inconvenience and losses of the owner of the plot of land subject to expropriation and land price shall be fixed by the local self-government.

Article 4 shall be amended to add the following wording: “In accordance with Civil Code each land parcel shall be attributed address permitting to determine its location without special means”.

This Act concerns limitations applying to legal action such as actions of contract and tort; actions to recover land, registered title and rent; actions to recover money secured by a mortgage or charge or to recover proceeds of the sale of land; actions in respect of trust property or movable property of deceased person; and actions against the government and public authorities, etc. The Act also concerns the application of limitation law to arbitration, the acquisition of easements and registration of title to land or easement acquired under Act.

The 8 Parts of this Act are entitled as follows: Land districts and recording districts (Part 1); Disposition of Crown land (2); Application procedure for disposition of Crown land (3); Disposition of Crown land - Cancellation, amendment and abandonment (4); Crown grants (5); Trespass on Crown land (6); Surveys (7); Additional powers (8).The Act regulates Crown land and its disposition, which is defined in section 1 as "the act of disposal or an instrument by which the act is effected or evidenced, or by which an interest in Crown land is disposed of or effected, or by which the government

This Act sets out the legal, administrative and procedural framework for determining land title in British Columbia.

This Act regulates land title inquiries for fee simple titles, for interests in land, or for government title to land. Inquiries may be initiated on application by the interested party to the Supreme Court in the form of a petition (sects. 1 and 2). In case of a contest of title etc., the Court may either decide on the evidence before it, direct any issue to be tried by a jury or defer the declaration until further investigation (sect. 17). A model for an order of the Court containing a declaration of title is specified in section 23.

This Act makes provision with respect to duties and procedures of the Office of the Registrar of Deeds. Procedures concern, among other things, leases and mortgages.

Article 8 shall be amended to add the following wording: “after the wording purchase and sale shall be inserted the wording donation”.
