The objective of this study was to describe the relationship among range condition scores, tenure system, management practices and bio-physical variables for 107 communal ejido ranches and 373 private ranches in Sonora, Mexico. The data was obtained from assessments of range condition and recommended carrying capacity for individual ranch units that were completed between 1973 and 1993 by the Comision Tecnica para la Determinacion de Coeficientes de Agostadero.

These Regulations, made under section 272 of the Agricultural (Commercial) Land Reform Act, establish require certain particulars to be furnished in connection with an offer to sell agricultural land to the State under section 17 of the Act. They also prescribe forms for a certificate of waiver referred to in section 16 of the Act and an application for an option to purchase a farming unit in terms of section 47(2) of the Act.

An overview of the legislation and judgements of the LCC regarding the Extension of Security of Tenure Act No 62 of 1997 (as amended)

This Law sets the necessary rules and provisions as regards the expropriation of land (the deprivation or restriction of property rights on immovable/real estate/land parcels and similar when required by the public interest, with a fair compensation).The expropriation procedure and the bodies for its implementation are also defined by this Law.The Law is divided into VI Chapters and 63 articles, including specific compensation issues (see Chapter V).

This study is a revised version of a working document originally prepared by FAO in April 1995 analysing the policy and legal options available for dealing with the sensitive issue of foreign ownership of land. It provides information on the approaches that are, or have been adopted to regulate foreign ownership of land. As such, it aims at providing a framework for analysis and a representative sample of the legal techniques and strategies that have been devised to deal with the issue; it is not intended to be an authoritative summary of the state of the law in this area.
