Severe land degradation has strongly affected both people’s livelihood and the environment in Cape Verde (Cabo Verde in Portuguese), a natural resource poor country.
Desertification is the most disturbing and detrimental cause of rural vulnerability in Cape Verde, affecting families' material and environmental resources.

Cette troisième réunion du groupe de travail Biodiversité, Habitat et Qualité de l’Eau a été ouverte conjointement par M. Birane Sambe, coordinateur régional du projet CCLME et M. Abou Bamba, secrétaire de la Convention d’Abidjan. M. Sambe a remercié l’ensemble des participants d’avoir effectué le déplacement. The second meeting of Biodiversity, Habitat and Water Quality, subject of this report, was organized in Banjul (The Gambia) from 12 to 14 March 2013. All representatives of the countries (except from Morocco) as well as the RCU URC and the project partners were able to participate.
To ensure a food-secure future, farming must become climate resilient. Around the world, governments and communities are adopting innovations that are improving the lives of millions while reducing agriculture’s climate footprint. These successful examples show the many ways climate-smart agriculture can take shape, and should serve as inspiration for future policies and investments.
